Cats, Religion & An Aubergine
Hi!
Wednesday evening I went on a date with my partner and it was not what I was expecting at all. I'm not sure what I was expecting but it definitely wasn't that! We got the train into the nearest city, went to my favourite dessert restaurant and then went to a poetry/comedy evening. The event was called Spork (something to do with spoken word?) and I'm still slightly speechless about the whole event. It was hosted in a bar where the pints were £4.50. The reason I had planned this particular date is because it was a free event so I thought we could get a drink. I wouldn't have if I'd known the price! It was good cider though. The actual location was very nice. The event organizer had even bought free cake for everyone to eat. It was a celebration of their 1st birthday doing evenings like this and there were even party hats. The main reason I chose this for our date is because of a wonderful man called Samantics. He is a music artist and I have spoken about him on my blogs before. The majority of his songs are about the reality of mental health and he wants to raise awareness which is the same reason I write these blogs. I wish I had the confidence to sing what I want to say but alas, I don't. He was the headliner for the night and it was great as always to see him but the other acts...well. There was poetry about suicide, being transgender, the homeless living in Wetherspoons, cats, religion, politics, Dave109 (a sexual poem about someone a lady met on tinder), an erotic poem about an aubergine and an old man with a gong in a bucket of water. I'm still confused.
Yesterday was my partners dads birthday so he came over to collect his birthday presents. We got him a mug but his main present was just fantastic. He is planning to go adventuring off with his fiancee soon and they have just bought a campervan so...it would only make sense to buy him a lego model of a campervan right? By the looks of things he had a great time building it up tonight and making Facebook animations so I think it was a good choice and I'm glad he liked it. I also had a doctors appointment yesterday. Another sick note was required for the job centre and I got my official diagnosis for PTSD. She agrees with my therapist. In a couple of days I have my mental health assessment and I now have typed letters from both my doctor and therapist talking about how engaged I am with my appointments, therapy and medication so I'm really hoping it will go well and I'll get some extra support. That's the plan anyway.
Today I caught up on some well needed sleep. I have been having 2-4 hours a night for a while now and it was really starting to affect me. Luckily today I slept well into the afternoon and although some may not think that's a good thing, it was for me. I feel like I can think like a human being again. I made sure to get out this evening though as me and my partner went out for dinner. We got fish and chips to take home and then realised there was a small 'barn' attached with a ton of large lego models in it. It was amazing. No one was in there so we had the whole place to ourselves and I would definitely do it again, it was good fun.
Tomorrow I have managed to find another free event just up from where we live so if all goes to plan, that is where we will be headed. If I manage to get up in time.
Enjoy your weekend!
